Meditations
I AM MEDITATION TO HELP YOU REWIRE YOUR BRAIN FOR PEACE AND COMFORT
When you are first grieving, you are in shock, disoriented, and often your mind is swirling with thoughts that are not always positive. We often tell ourselves stories or believe what others say around us. I offer this to you as an oasis on this difficult journey to heal your heart. You’ve been going, going, going. You not only lost your loved one, but you also lost dreams of a future. It’s always too soon!
You may wish to focus only on one affirmation a day, letting it soak into your heart. You may wish to repeat the entire meditation several times in the weeks ahead. Choose what helps your heart.
My dear, sit or lie down in a comfortable place. Allow yourself to rest, and let your body relax. Then….
Take a deep breath.
Place your hand over your heart.
Close your eyes if it feels safe to do so.
Let each phrase settle in your body.
You are not alone.
1. I am grieving, and that is okay.
My feelings are valid. I honor them without shame or rush.
2. I am not broken—I am healing.
Though I feel shattered, I am slowly putting myself back together with love.
3. I am allowed to rest.
Grief is exhausting. I give myself permission to pause and breathe.
4. I am more than my sorrow.
Even in the heaviness, there is light in me that still flickers.
5. I am loved and supported.
Even when I feel alone, I am held in the hearts of others.
6. I am doing the best I can.
There is no right way to grieve. My path is uniquely mine.
7. I am allowed to feel joy again.
Moments of laughter and beauty are not betrayals—they are healing.
8. I am connected to the one I’ve lost.
Love doesn’t end. It transforms and walks beside me in unseen ways.
9. I am growing stronger every day.
Even in my pain, I am learning resilience, compassion, and grace.
10. I am enough, just as I am.
Tears, anger, silence, or laughter—who I am right now is enough.
And my dear one, if you start to cry, just cry. Cry it out. I kept a dishtowel on my couch since tissue wasn’t enough. Don’t tell yourself to stop. You will stop when your body has cried it out. Remember you are deeply loved, please stay with our little tribe to get the support you need.
Why did I create this for you? So often, I hear negative “I am” beliefs coming from the mouths of grievers. I am never going to survive this, I am a sad person, I am….I am…. all negative. You may feel sad, lost, and more…but those are feelings. They come and go. You are you. You decide right now to be you. You decide what you will say to yourself. If you find such words coming from your thoughts or voice, write them down, then create your own affirmation to counter them.
When you are feeling sad, say, “I am FEELING sad.” Addressing your feelings is VERY important to your healing! Saying “I am FEELING lost” is very different than saying “I AM LOST.” Pay attention. Your future you is being created…and it all begins with these critical distinctions.
You are loved. These will help you heal your grief and end your suffering so that you can live again.
I send you love and blessings, VickiJolene
