Begin The Journey
Helps End the Suffering of Grief
Welcome, Brave Soul. You are the hero of your story.
You may not feel very heroic at the moment. Most grieving hearts don’t. You are suffering. You might feel broken, lost, exhausted, or simply numb. But grief — as painful and disorienting as it is — does not have to define the rest of your story.
My mission is sacred: helping people heal their grief and end their suffering, so they can live again.
You will learn how to release the painful emotions, thoughts, and patterns that cause your suffering, leaving only LOVE for the one you lost.
I achieve this through the transformational framework of The Hero’s Journey, utilizing the tools and training I’ve received as a Certified Grief Educator, trained by world-renowned grief expert David Kessler, and my forty years of experience as an ordained pastor.
What I offer is not traditional therapy.
I offer you a practical understanding of the grief process and brain science that makes sense.
I will combine this with narrative wisdom, spiritual grounding, and emotional insight.
I’ll help you see your story differently — not as something that ended when your loved one died, but as something still unfolding with courage, meaning, and love.
The Hero’s Journey Creates New Meaning in Your Pain
Stories — whether books, movies, or the lived experiences of family and friends — have always fascinated me.
As a writer and spiritual caregiver, I’ve long drawn strength from Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey. It helped me survive many losses, including the long goodbye of my husband’s illness and death.
This model isn’t just about storytelling. It’s about survival.
It shows that the grief journey is long and arduous—not because anything is wrong, but because transformation takes time.
Grief is not simply an event. It’s a passage.
A dark, disorienting, painful one — yes. But also a sacred invitation.
When I began to understand myself as the heroine of my own story, I could face my fears, walk through the cave, and slowly create a life that honored both my loss and my love.
Now, I offer that same perspective to others. I’ve seen how The Hero’s Journey provides us with language, structure, and, above all, hope. It helps us endure what we think we cannot. It helps us see meaning in what once felt senseless.
Let’s Journey Together Toward Transformation
This is a new website. I’m still learning how to launch a YouTube channel and build this space.
But I feel strongly that together, we can create something meaningful, not just for ourselves, but for every grieving heart who stumbles across this space in search of hope.
Please be patient with the imperfect edges. This is a work in progress — aren’t we all?
What I promise is this: authenticity, optimism, practical wisdom, gentle laughter, and soul-deep care.
My grief groups are not cry-fests (though there’s room for tears).
They are filled with honesty, shared memories, supportive conversation, and the occasional belly laugh.
We tell the truth about grief, and we honor it. We don’t rush healing, but we walk toward it.
You are not just enduring grief. You are on a journey.
Like every powerful story, yours is filled with trials, choices, mentors, and transformation. If you’re feeling a little crazy, you are normal. Check out You’re Not Crazy,

I will offer two types of blogs:
Practical, informational blogs to help you understand the science behind grief and related topics. It’s important to realize that “Yes, it’s all in your head!” I say that with all grace. Two things are going on:
There’s a map in your unique brain. How you scientifically deal with grief depends on how your brain has been both “hard-wired” and “soft-wired.” I will slowly unpack this for you along the way… and it will give you the grace to let go of your unrealistic expectations about your grief! These are posted on Wednesdays.
The second part is your mind, that is, your thoughts, your memories, your words. I deal alot with the emotions in “Margaret’s Grief Group” stories and in upcoming YouTube videos. Know that there are so many POSITIVE as well as NEGATIVE emotions, though I first deal with the hard, confusing ones. These are posted on Mondays.
An ongoing series of stories called “Margaret’s Grief Group” is especially for you. It’s a fictional group with individuals like you struggling with grief, based on my experience. These are compressed to give you the content you need. My “real” groups take time to really listen as we go around the room. We meet for 90 minutes—lots of love and compassion. These characters are dear to me as I have included them in my writing for the Care Courier Newsletter for Locke Funeral Services. (These episodes are numbered if you wish to read in sequence.)
This Is Not About “Getting Over” Someone You Love
It’s about discovering how to live with that love — still present, still powerful — as you write your next chapter.
You are not broken. You are becoming.
You are not alone.
You are the hero or heroine of your story.
Together, we will heal your grief and end your suffering so you can live again.
